HOW IS ART CREATED?

„In my opinion, tones can become songs, dots can become pictures, but art is only created when the soul is touched.

CV

Stela Maike Grützmann was born in 1979 in the garden city Haan, Rheinland, NRW and has family roots from Brazil and Germany. As a young child she discovered her love of painting and drawing and instead of playing with dolls and so on she went into the world of art methods.

Her enthusiasm for painting and drawing continued at school. Art became her favorite subject. She took part in art clubs and advanced courses. Various styles and interpretation techniques were taught here. Stela Maike Grützmann developed a particular passion for intense colours and positive and imaginative depictions. This was also helped by a visit to a Düsseldorf art exhibition about surrealists, which showed works by Salvador Dalí, René Magritte and M.C. Escher, among others. She soon began to independently develop her own mythical creatures and magical natural worlds.

Stela Maike Grützmann started painting in oil on canvas in 2003. After a serious illness and a period of isolation, she decided to create paintings that radiate permanence and suggest joy in life. She bought her first oil colours and her first canvas in Munich. Since then, she has preferred to paint with oil paints on canvas. Her subject is bright, radiant, wonderful creatures in magical natural worlds. For more than 20 years now, she has used her self-taught technique to provide a glimpse into the realm of fantasy, reminding people of the magic of life and the power of nature.

Stela Maike Grützmann works in the technical and quality assurance field of the pharmaceutical industry. After working in the cities of Langenfeld, Eisenach, Neuhaus am Rennweg and Steinach, she and her husband Stefan Grützmann have now found their adopted home in Teuschnitz (Bavaria).

How did I land in the world of art?

As a child I began drawing and this led to me feeling relaxed and also the concentration was fully focused on completing the specific picture instead of jumping from one task to another as other children did. I had fun to learn new techniques such as perspective drawing. As I grew older I even began to draw pieces of art throughout the night and provided them to the teachers the following day in the lessons. I basically enjoyed drawing and this provided satisfaction and honour to my person when my picture was complete.

Why do I draw „beings of wonder“:

I love nature, a world of animals and plants and I love to spend my time wandering or cycling or even just enjoying a coffee in the morning on my terrace which enables me to relax and come down. Art can be happy and colourful and does not to be use in general schemes.

I painted my very first oil painting and thought it would be my last. Back then I began drawing creatures of wonder, they should radiate happiness and trust, give hope and strength.

My pictures do not provide pictures of our surroundings, these art are from my own world of „game of clouds“, which enable all.

Where does my inspiration come from?

Have you ever played the game of clouds? It is a game in which you should lie on your back in the garden and observe the clouds... I played this game the first time at the age of 8 and accompanied by my best friend, we laid on a garage roof behind our house and observed the clouds and we both pointed out which animals or creatures could be seen in the clouds, the eyes, ears, faces and bodies and with the wind the clouds moved and other subjects could be seen.

This game has accompanied me up to this day, in wood fiber I could see figures, I could see in the hotel window blinds animals or faces even in irregular wallpaper I could identify subjects.

The most of my pictures are created by standing firstly at the canvas and then using my wished subjects e.g. a ballerina which a friend had brought around to me and then I can view the subject and put her on the canvas.
